Welcome to our site. Well, Matt and I have just about reached that year and a half mile marker. We are living in a small town, pop. 500, in North Central North Dakota. We are 6 miles from the Canadian border. We bought a house a little over a year ago, and we are really happy.
Matt is working as a deputy sheriff. He has a take home vehicle, which is a Ford Pickup. He is looking forward to warmer tempertures now as things will pick up some. Things get a little boring here in the frozen tundra during the winter. Matt also is a civil process instructor and he teaches at the Biannual Sheriffs Inservice once a year at the end of March down in Bismarck. Yes, I have to be tough and stay all by my lonesome for 5 whole days, but I make it.
I am a Nurse at St Andrew Health Center, a 25 bed critical access hospital in Bottineau, which is about 32 miles from where we live. I am one of 3 main Day Charge Nurses. As charge nurse I am also the ER nurse, which tends to make things interesting. But all together I rather enjoy my job. It's not quite the same as Primary Children's but alas it does well for a small town.
Matt and I have just joined the Westhope Community Ambulance. Matt will be a driver and I will be an EMT after I take a 3 day course at the end of May. We finally decided to take the plunge and help the community out. One thing that we have learned, is that these small town communities would really be in trouble if people didn't volunteer to be on the ambulance and fire department. It is a good crew to work with.
I am also working as a call-in nurse at the local nursing home. I just pick up a few shifts here and there to help them out and also to help me stay busy. I sing in the Bottineau Women's Chiors on Monday nights.
So, I guess you can say that we are enjoying the small town life. We have a dog named Brandi and a horse named Xenos. We will get pictures up shortly.
